BerryBestMoms.com features products made by mothers
There is a new website seeking to become the mother of all resources for entrepreneurs.
BerryBestMoms.com will help mothers that own small businesses bring their products and services to consumers interested in supporting them. The central location for products by and for active mothers hopes to highlight the creativity and ingenuity of the items. The site offers 120 different products from mothers all over the world, from Australia to the United States.
“We want you to love them too, and feel that the best way to make sure we are offering you the very best products is to keep ourselves, as a business, completely independent from manufacturing our own products, or advocating a specific political or religious point of view, said founder Kim Lemmonds. “The only opinions that matter here are those involving the products we carry.

Casey B. Mulligan is an economics professor at the University of Chicago.
Deflation has returned this summer, but it’s still nothing like what happened in the Great Depression years of 1929-33.
During most of our lifetimes, the prices of things we buy have generally increased over time. We can name some exceptions, but otherwise most items (even houses) carry prices that are higher now than they were 10, 20 or 30 years ago.
This general increase in consumer prices — often called inflation — has become familiar. Employees expect regular pay raises, and employers can normally afford them because they are increasing the prices of the products they sell.
On rare occasions, consumer price trends suddenly change directions.
One occasion was 1929. Consumer prices were pretty constant during the 1920s. The ch

US insurance giant AIG has agreed to pay 725 million dollars to settle allegations of market fraud brought by three Ohio pension funds, the state’s attorney general said Friday.
“The settlement resolves allegations of AIG’s wide-ranging fraud from October 1999 to April 2005 involving anti-competitive market division, accounting violations and stock price manipulation,” the office of attorney general Richard Cordray said in a statement.
Cordray declared the class-action settlement a victory for the “teachers, firefighters, police officers, and public employees,” who were “harmed by AIG’s misconduct.”
The company was accused of accounting fraud designed to boost AIG’s reserves to cover claims, a bid-rigging scheme with insurance brokers and executives ordering traders to inflate AIG’s stock price.
Cordray said it was the 10th-largest securities class-action settlement in US history. It is the latest blow

Many small business owners will save money thanks to new healthcare legislation
Healthcare legislation will positively benefit small businesses in many states, thanks to advantageous tax credits.
In Colorado, 83 percent of small businesses will receive tax credits when it comes to healthcare, according to the Denver Business Journal. Despite the vast majority of businesses receiving some kind of benefit, only 25 percent of small businesses will get the maximum tax credit.
“Many small businesses – like the local diner, the hardware store down the street or the neighborhood repair shop – face special challenges in providing health coverage for their small number of employees,” said Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA. “They will now receive substantial help.”
In Utah, more than 85 percent of businesses with fewer than 25 people will qualify for a federal tax credit in order to help pay for healthcare, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
